After winning a three way pitch, we were commissioned to carry out the front end design and create HTML/CSS for a large travel website with complex search for our client, Your Holidays.
The site design needed particular attention paid to the site architecture and user journey (UX) to ensure that visitors could easily search for flights, hotels or package deals and special offers.
The site needed to include imagery that would inspire holidaymakers, content rich pages that could be heavily optimised for search engine visibility, a ‘favourites’ function, and e-commerce functions such as discount voucher codes and the addition of holiday extras such as parking.
Our first task was to create a detailed user journey and site specification to share with the client, ensuring a clear understanding for all parties of how the site would work. This was especially important because we were working with the client’s chosen back end development team and needed clarity to ensure their back office system could handle all the functions we specified.
Once this was approved, we designed a series of page templates that were in turn created as responsive HTML/CSS templates. The templates were then integrated into the third party CMS/back office.
